Game Title: Various prototype titles, see description, play to be organized as players talk with me
Lewis Pulsipher
Game Type: Board
Decription: I (Lew Pulsipher) have a table throughout the con for playtesting. Rather than schedule a particular game in a timeslot, which doesn't work very well, I'll try to organize play of whatever people want to try when they want to try it. Come to the table, have a look, let's talk games. (I'm 6'4 and NFL lineman size, glasses and mustache, easy to spot.) In case you don't know me, among my designs are Britannia, Doomstar, and Dragon Rage, and latest Hastings 1066 (Worthington) which will be released before the con. I've also written the book "Game Design" (McFarland 2012), and write the "Worlds of [RPG] Design" column for ENWorld.org. See also the long-running Game Design channel on YouTube.

The games (there's even one at the end that isn't a wargame):

Duel Britannia This will be published in the same box with a functionally unchanged reprint of second edition (Fantasy Flight Games) Britannia, by PSC Games in the UK, next year or in 2020. Duel is a new two player version with a new board. Both games will share plastic figures instead of cardboard pieces. Duel takes me 65-75 minutes playing solo. It is far along, testing now is for play balance, rules clarity, and player reaction. You don't need to have played Britannia to understand this game, which is also simpler than Brit.

Annihilation/DeathShips A cooperative space wargame for 1-4 players. Gigantic machines programmed to destroy all life have invaded the galaxy. Can you survive long enough that your research enables you to win? Even if you win you'll lose more than half the galaxy! 90-140 minutes depending on # players and on how it goes - if badly, you could lose in an hour!

Doomfleets A favorite from past Rapiers. This is freeform, chaotic "Britannia in outer space," unconstrained where Brit is highly constrained, up to five players striving to conquer (a significant part of) a spiral galaxy. Each player controls three or four species. 2-3 hours depending on number of players, and whether we try the smaller board.

Stalingrad 1942 Two player "Break the Line" game (my Hastings 1066 (Worthington) was the first). Using cards to represent units (and a virtual board on the table), a 45 minute (or less) game. Chance plays a strong part in the combat. This is about fighting in the city of Stalingrad itself. I "should" have some published copies of Hastings to try by then, as well.

Wizards' Rage You're a powerful wizard taking your minions into a newly-revealed dungeon, trying to loot it of treasure before the other wizards get to it, or trying to steal from the others before they get their treasure out of the dungeon. If you die, you lose! Spells, monsters, heroes, demons, trolls, elves, the lot. This game is essentially done, but I'm trying methods to reduce playing time. 1-2 hours? 2-5 players.

WW II Eastern Front This diceless two player block game is not a simulation, but a representation of the cauldron of warfare on the Eastern Front 1942-42. Less than 30 blocks a side, hex board. Playing time varies a lot, could be an hour, could be much less. Can be played by partners, there's even a (still rough) two player co-op version.

Manipulation A quick stock market game where you are an "oligarch", someone so rich you're OK with using underhanded or illegal methods to manipulate the stock market so you can get richer. The goal is still to buy low and sell high. 10-12 minutes per player, so the maximum (5) will take an hour.

I'll be at my table almost all of the con, trying to organize play of some of these games. This works better than scheduling a particular game in a specific timeslot. Don't register for a timeslot, instead come talk with me (Lew).
